Intelligent design - stupid people

Ok, so apparently Intelligent design is the new creationism, supposedly based on science. There was an interesting interview with Sir David Attenborough (and some religious nutter - I can only assume) on the BBC's Today programme this morning. Whats worrying is that ID is being taught as fact and Evolution is being edged out. Its sad really, as a country as big (geographically, population-wise, politically and militarily) and in certain areas insular, really doesnt need to be dabbling with those kind of bizarre theorys.
